Baby #3: He's Here!

Landon Kerry Heber
7 pounds 14 ounces
19 inches
born at 4:35 a.m.

First off, this is not how I expected my labor and delivery to go. I felt I would go early, I also thought it would go quickly but not this early and not this quickly.

I was 37 weeks and 3 days when Landon was born. Here's the story.

Sunday, even after sleeping really well, I was sooo tired. Could not keep my eyes open tired. Not regular I have 2 small children and I'm pregnant tired. Literally could not keep my eyes open tired. As I tried to figure out what was wrong with me throughout the day I remembered being sooo tired the day before Tate was born too. I thought that maybe this is my body's way of getting me to get enough sleep to have enough energy to deliver a baby the next day but I also didn't want to get my hopes up (or anyone else's) so I didn't say anything.

Monday morning I woke up at my usual 2 a.m. to go to the bathroom. As I got up I felt a slight leak. I assumed it was just pee since my bladder was crazy full and any movement usually makes me pee a little bit (pregnancy problems). I went to the bathroom and after I emptied my bladder, every time I moved a small amount of liquid would come out. I wasn't sure if this was amniotic fluid or urine. I sat and tried to figure it out a for a few minutes but could never come to a definitive answer but I did decide to stay up for a little bit to see if anything happened.

Around 2:45 or 3 I started having what I was pretty sure were contractions but I'm always second guessing myself because I don't want to go to the hospital and have them send me home. Also, I've never had contractions without my water breaking (and therefore knowing for sure that I am in labor) or being induced (and also knowing for sure I am in labor). Also, I've never felt early labor contractions. When I feel contractions we're at the active labor stage and my contractions come hard and fast. About 3:15 I decided we should probably go to the hospital so I woke Anthony up and told him to shower. I called my mom around 3:30 and asked her to come over and stay with the kids. She arrived at 4:08 and by this time I was convinced the contractions were going to kill me before I made it to the hospital.

As we drove I continued to have contractions about 2-3 minutes apart and lasting for 30 seconds to a little over a minute. This drive was the longest 20 minutes of my life.

We made it to the hospital and Anthony dropped me off at the front door. I waddled myself up to the second floor, rang the bell and told the lady I was in labor. Anthony caught up to me at this time and we headed into the labor and delivery floor. The lady was asking me all kinds of stupid questions about insurance and my name and other things that I didn't have time for. I will talk to you after these death contractions are taken care of, okay? Pretty quickly another nurse took over and got me to our room. I went to the bathroom to get changed, which was a daunting task given the severity of my contractions. It took me a few minutes to even attempt getting changed but I finally did so and made it to the bed.

At this time the nurses were putting on my hospital bracelets and monitors and I'm convulsing in agony. A nurse asks me if I'd like an epidural and while in my head I thought "Duh! Obviously." I managed to answer with a much nicer "Yes, please." The head nurse tells me she's going to check me and then says "Oh, you're complete. The head is right there. You're not going to have time for an epidural." Hoping she was joking I asked "Really?!" She gave me the affirmative and I continued to writhe in pain and whimper that I couldn't do it. The nurse told me I had already done the hard part (contractions) and that I could do it. I didn't believe her.

The announcement that I was complete sent the nurses into action, trying to get the room ready, making sure the doctor had been called, etc. Soon after this I had to push. I think I apologized but told the nurse I had to push. Two pushes later, Landon was here and all the pain was gone. This is about when the doctor made it into my room, sorry you missed the party. I tore a bit with the delivery so the doctor sewed me back up and delivered the placenta. This part was not super painful but it was uncomfortable. At this point I was shaking and it was difficult for me to control my lower half. The muscles were all very tense. The doctor kept telling me to relax and I had to keep telling him I was trying. It was difficult. Having always been completely numb with my previous deliveries, this was a part that was just background noise. I had just had some serious trauma and the doctor is now sewing me up (which I did get some local anesthetic and those shots hurt like crazy) and also pulling on the umbilical cord to help deliver the placenta.

I don't think that I will ever choose to have an unmedicated birth again but it's nice to know that I could do it if I wanted/needed to.

Because he came so quickly, he had some breathing problems early on. The doctors were worried it was fluid in his lungs or that he could possibly have an infection but it turned out that he just was a grunty breather for the first day or so.

Minutes old
Landon had this giant IV the whole time we were in the hospital just in case they needed it. They never did.

We really sucked at taking pictures in the hospital. I'm blaming the trauma of the whole unmedicated birth thing.

So this is happening...

Yep, baby number 3 is on his/her way in late April. We're pretty stoked about it.

Baby Girl: She's Here!

Today, I had a doctor appointment. Like I said I was worried about I had more protein in my urine and my blood pressure was pretty high so my doctor was worried and said I had two options: I could collect my urine for a whole day (this may be a TMI post, yes?) or I could go in now and be induced today.

After some convincing by my doctor (I was already dilating and had a "favorable cervix") and some hormonal tears I decided to be induced. I made arrangements for Tate for the afternoon and called Husband to have him meet me at the hospital.

I was checked in by 11 and started on pitocin soon after.  My contractions started pretty quickly and were coming about every 3 minutes but were pretty easy to handle. Around noon my doctor came in and broke my water. That's when the contractions started to get a lot stronger. I said this with Tate and I'll say it again, unmedicated birth...you ladies are super amazing. I was at a 7 and feeling lots of pain so I decided to get my epidural. From there everything progressed pretty quickly. A bit before 3pm I was feeling a lot of pressure so I had the nurse come check me. I was at a 10 and she could feel the head. My doctor came in a few minutes later and I started pushing with the next contraction. After two pushes during the first contraction, Baby Girl was born. I didn't expect her to come out so fast and it completely surprised me when they put her on my chest.

Baby Girl: 39 Weeks

39 Weeks
Baby is the size of a watermelon
(about 19-22 inches long)
Weighs about 6-9 pounds

How far along are you? 39 weeks
Sleep: Sleeping has been great this week. I sleep pretty soundly through the night (though I'm waking up 2-3 times a night to go to the bathroom) and sometimes Tate even lets me nap during the day when he decides he also needs a nap.
Mood changes: Anxious...so ready to have this baby already! I am blown away by the fact that I am still pregnant at 39 weeks. I never in a million years thought I was going to make it this far!
Cravings: Really cold things. Water, fruit, things that are quick and easy to make.
Other symptoms:
Achy everywhere, lower back really hurts all of the time. Same swollen feet and tingly hand.

Movement:
Not nearly as much as she was but she's still there kicking really hard occasionally.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Not really. I've had really bad heartburn lately though
Have you started to show yet:
Yep.

Do you have a name picked out:
Nope.

Maternity clothes:
Always.

Labor Signs:
I'm pretty positive I'm having very infrequent contractions. I'm not sure if they're Barxton Hicks or real ones but they're annoying mostly because they're not leading anywhere. Hurry up and get here baby!

Belly Button in or out: in
Wedding rings on or off:
Engagement ring on, wedding band off.

Looking forward to:
Having our baby here and not being pregnant anymore.

Things I'm worried about:
That I'll go into my next appointment and the doctor will tell me I have to be induced (I had a little protein in my urine last week and he said we just need to watch it and make sure it doesn't get worse).

Things I'm loving:
Knowing that baby is officially full term and she should be just fine when she comes out.

*No Baby H. 39 week update because he came at 37 weeks and 5 days.

Baby Girl: 38 Weels

Same dress as last week. I wish I would have bought this dress a long time ago, so comfy!
 38 Weeks
Baby is the size of a watermelon
(about 19-22 inches long)
Weighs about 7 pounds

How far along are you? 38 weeks
Sleep: I'm still in the okay sleeping category. My hips are so sore that I can barely move after I've been laying on one side for an hour or more that sometimes I can't get back to sleep.
Mood changes: So so tired.
Cravings: Cafe Rio, Five Guys...basically anything I didn't have to cook.
Other symptoms: Same things: achy back, numb fingers on my right hand, swollen feet
Movement: She seems to have slowed down a bit but still kicking pretty hard.
Anything making you queasy or sick: The possible contractions I've been having. I say possible because I don't know that they are real contractions but whatever they are they make me feel like I'm going to puke.
Have you started to show yet:  Yep.
Do you have a name picked out: Nope. How about Baby Girl Heber.
Maternity clothes:Always.
Labor Signs: I'm not sure. On Tuesday night, I was convinced I was having really early contractions (I have no idea what those actually feel like because I didn't have any with Tate. I googled the crap out of things and of course I came to the conclusion that they were, in fact, early contractions and we would be having the baby some time the next day...that obviously didn't happen.) I still don't know what they were...Braxton Hicks? Actual contractions that didn't lead anywhere? Who knows.
Belly Button in or out: in
Wedding rings on or off: Engagement ring on, wedding band off.
Looking forward to: Meeting our baby girl. I really hope she comes on Saturday because then our wedding anniversary, Tate's birthday and Baby Girl's birthday would all fall on the 27th of different months.
Things I'm worried about: That labor will go super quickly and I won't get to the hospital/won't get an epidural OR labor will go super long and be miserable.
Things I'm loving: In two-ish weeks, or less, we'll be a family of four. That's crazy but so fun and exciting.

*At my 38 week appointment (on Tuesday 9/23) I was dilated to a 4 but still with only a softening cervix. I'm really hoping she comes this week!
*No Baby H. 38 week update because he came at 37 weeks and 5 days.

Baby Girl: 37 Weeks

37Weeks
Baby is the size of a watermelon
(about 19-22 inches long)
Weighs about 6.5 pounds

How far along are you? 37 weeks
Sleep: It's been okay this week. Not wonderful but better than it has been in the last few weeks.
Mood changes: Just tired
Cravings: All the sugar
Other symptoms: Same things: achy back, numb fingers on my right hand, swollen feet
Movement: Lots of kicks up around my ribs, some a really painful. She's getting really strong and makes my belly wiggle all over the place.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Not this week, wahoo!
Have you started to show yet:  Yep.
Do you have a name picked out: Still no name.
Maternity clothes:Always.
Labor Signs: I don't think so.
Belly Button in or out: in
Wedding rings on or off: Off, generally. I finally picked them back up from the jewelry store and they are so shiny and pretty. I also realized/remembered I can wear one at a time and they aren't too tight so I think I'm going to do that and see how it goes.
Looking forward to: Wearing both of my wedding rings again!
Things I'm worried about: Knowing if her head is down or not. I get an ultrasound tomorrow to find out though. Hopefully I'll even get a print out of her cute little face.
Things I'm loving: Knowing that I can have her any day now and she should be fine.

**at the 37 week doctor appointment we had an ultrasound which told us that baby's head is down, about 6.4 pounds and I'm at 2cm with a softening cervix. So, maybe there will be a baby this week...maybe not.

Baby Girl: 36 Weeks

36 Weeks
Baby is the size of a watermelon
(about 19-22 inches long)
About 6.5 pounds
How far along are you? 36 weeks
Sleep: Oh, man! This has been an awful week for sleeping. It takes me forever to fall asleep then I'm waking up every hour or so because I'm sore or just because my body thinks I need to be awake.
Mood changes: Tired and ornery.
Cravings: Frosted Flakes.
Other symptoms: The swelling in my feet has made it to the point that it doesn't go away. I go to sleep with super swollen feet and ankles and wake up with slightly less swollen feet and ankles.
Movement: Not nearly as much. More pushing than anything.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Feeling good this week.
Have you started to show yet:  Yep.

Do you have a name picked out: Still no name. We added a couple more names to our list but no "this is her name" name yet.
Maternity clothes: Always
Labor Signs: Nope.
Belly Button in or out: in
Wedding rings on or off: Off.
Looking forward to: The baby coming very soon! Tate came at 37 weeks 5 days. We're getting there!

Things I'm worried about: Picking a horrible name.
Things I'm loving: When Tate points to my belly and screams "Baby!!" Also, Tate started calling the baby "DadaDum" when we ask him what we should name the baby. I know he doesn't know what dumb means but it's still pretty funny.

*Baby H. 36 week update here.

Also, I had maternity pictures taken on Friday.

Baby Girl: 35 Weeks

35 Weeks
Baby is the size of a large cantaloupe (about 19-22 inches long)
Weighs about 6 pounds

How far along are you? 35 weeks
Sleep: We've been house sitting so I'm not in my bed which makes sleeping a bit more difficult. I'm always tired though and just really want to not be sore when I move from one side to another.
Mood changes: I don't think I'm moody or anything but maybe I am. I feel like I get frustrated with Tate more quickly than I normally do so I guess there's that.
Cravings: Candy. All the candy in all the world. But then I eat it and feel sick. Oh, sugar. You're delicious but make me so very sick.
Other symptoms: Very sore hips and back. Sometimes they feel like menstrual cramps which worries me that it's early labor. I have no idea. Just stay inside for 2 more weeks, Baby Girl.
Movement: Moving all the time. Sometimes I feel like she has more than four limbs.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Feeling pretty good this week.
Have you started to show yet:  Yep.

Do you have a name picked out: Still no name.
Maternity clothes: Always
Labor Signs: Nope.
Belly Button in or out: in
Wedding rings on or off: Off.
Looking forward to: Tomorrow and being able to say "My baby is due next month."

Things I'm worried about: Going into labor before 37 weeks. I know she'd be fine but I really want to make sure she's full term.
Things I'm loving: Asking Tate what we should name the baby. His most recent name is "MyMamaDada." He also likes "TateMamaDada" so we'll probably put those both on the list.

*Baby H. 35 week update here.

Baby Girl: 34 Weeks

34 Weeks
Baby is the size of a large cantaloupe (about 19-22 inches long)
Weighs about 5.5 pounds

How far along are you? 34 weeks
Sleep: I've been sleeping so well this last week. I usually wake up after about five hours and can't move but I manage to finally flip over and go back to bed for the rest of the night.
Mood changes: Still tired. Most days I need a nap in the afternoon and most days Tate decides he doesn't need a nap so I don't really get many naps in.
Cravings: Nothing. All food sounds gross lately.
Other symptoms: I've been feeling really nauseous lately. I always feel like I'm on the verge of throwing up. It's not fun.
Movement: She's moving so much now. Husband has felt her multiple times now. A lot of her kicks are up in my ribs so I'm hoping that means she's head down and remain that way for the rest of the pregnancy.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Eating. If I didn't have to eat I probably wouldn't because it makes me feel so barfy lately.
Have you started to show yet:  Yep.

Do you have a name picked out: Still no name.
Maternity clothes: Always
Labor Signs: Nope.
Belly Button in or out: in
Wedding rings on or off: Off, I took them in to get cleaned and fixed up and I realized how much I like my rings and miss wearing them so I slipped them on while driving. Huge mistake. They were so difficult to get off! I'll see you again after baby, my lovely wedding rings.
Looking forward to: Having the baby here. I know I still have a while but I'm just really excited.

Things I'm worried about: Going into labor really early or at a time when I can't find anyone to take Tate.
Things I'm loving:Seeing my stomach move when she kicks. The other day she kicked and held her foot against my side for a really long time. It was pretty awesome to be able to feel her foot.

Baby Girl: 33 Weeks

33Weeks
Baby is the size of a pineapple (about 19-22 inches long)
Weighs about 4.9 pounds

How far along are you? 33 weeks
Sleep: I've tried using a few essential oils lately to help with sleep and they've been amazing.  I'm able to stay asleep longer but when I do wake up to roll over my side is super sore and I can barely move and also my arm is asleep. I don't know which I'd rather have though. The restful sleep or the not as sore body.
Mood changes: Still tired.
Cravings: Nothing. All food sounds gross lately.
Other symptoms: My right arm falls asleep really easily now. It's really awesome to wake up and not be able to use my right hand.
Movement: Her movements are more rolling but they've been really hard lately.  I've seen my stomach really move a lot lately which is something I haven't seen yet with this pregnancy.  Hopefully she's not wrapping the cord around her neck like Tate did with his!
Anything making you queasy or sick: Too much sugar.
Have you started to show yet:  Yep.

Do you have a name picked out: Still no name.
Maternity clothes: Almost every day.
Labor Signs: Nope.
Belly Button in or out: in
Wedding rings on or off: Off, I probably won't wear them again until after baby is here.
Looking forward to: Meeting the baby! If she comes as early as Tate did, she'll be here in 33 days!

Things I'm worried about: Being a gigantic, swollen mess for the next 7ish weeks.
Things I'm loving:
Knowing that no matter when the baby comes I don't have to worry about finding a sub/making sub plans/my students being awful. I can just drop Tate off with someone and go to the hospital.

Baby Girl: 32 Weeks

32Weeks
Baby is the size of a honeydew (about 19 inches long)
Weighs about 4.5 pounds

How far along are you? 32 weeks
Sleep:Still about the same...rolling over every 2 hours.
Mood changes: Really tired.
Cravings: I always want soda but then I drink it and feel horrible so I'm trying to stop.
Other symptoms: Update from last week: the doctor said arms and hands falling asleep easily (especially while sleeping) is totally normal. Also, swelling just one one side is normal too. Good to know! New-ish symptoms: lower back pain. I hope it stays only as pain and doesn't move onto sciatica again...that was miserable.
Movement: Lots of rolling with a few hard kicks here and there but they are mostly still just kicks in toward my spine.
Anything making you queasy or sick: If I don't eat often enough or I don't drink enough water I get sick.
Have you started to show yet:  Yep.

Do you have a name picked out: Still no name.
Maternity clothes:Yep. I wear them as often as possible. They are awesome.
Labor Signs: I don't think so but we were camping about 3 hours away from our house over the weekend and I was convinced that I was going into labor.  I was freaking myself out because I was having some pain in my stomach (I've decided it was just because I didn't drink enough water) and I was convinced it was contractions because I didn't really feel any early contractions with Tate.  I was sure I was going to have a premature baby in a hospital 3 hours away from my house.  It was horrible.  Luckily, it was just my crazy pregnancy hormones being fun.
Belly Button in or out: in
Wedding rings on or off: Off, I probably won't wear them again until after baby is here.
Looking forward to: Meeting Baby Girl in 8 or less weeks
...I can't believe it's so close, 8 weeks is nothing!
Things I'm worried about: Being a gigantic, swollen mess for the next 8ish weeks.
Things I'm loving: Feeling baby girl move more often.

Baby Girl: 31 Weeks

31Weeks
Baby is the size of a butternut squash (about 17 inches long)
Weighs about 3 pounds

How far along are you? 31 weeks
Sleep:Still about the same...sleeping for about 2 hours stretches then rolling over because my hips ache but I'm able to get back to sleep easily.
Mood changes: Still tired.
Cravings: No real cravings at all with this pregnancy. I had corn on the cob for the first time this summer a few days ago and that was super delicious but I wouldn't say I'm craving it.
Other symptoms: Still swollen and my arms fall asleep really easily...Driving with my hands at 10 and 2 (is that where you're really supposed to keep your hands? maybe?) makes my hands and arms up to my elbows fall asleep.  Weird. I'm talking to my doctor about it tomorrow.
Movement: She gets really active for maybe 10 minutes at a time throughout the day but it's still mostly kicks in toward my spine.  Still a lot of sitting on my bladder and kicking it at inopportune times.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Not really, pretty good lately.
Have you started to show yet:  For sure!

Do you have a name picked out: Still no name.
Maternity clothes:Yep. I wear them as often as possible. They are awesome.
Labor Signs: Nope
Belly Button in or out: in
Wedding rings on or off: Off, it was pretty close to cutting off my circulation when I woke up this morning.
Looking forward to: Meeting Baby Girl in 9 or less weeks

Things I'm worried about: My one fat ankle. Is it weird that only one ankle/foot is swelling...again, asking my doctor tomorrow.
Things I'm loving: That it's not been super hot the past few weeks.  I can only imagine how huge my ankle would be if it was 100 degrees.

Baby Girl: 30 Weeks

30Weeks
Baby is the size of a butternut squash (about 17 inches long)
Weighs about 3 pounds

How far along are you? 30 weeks
Sleep:Pretty good lately, I sleep for about 2 hours stretches then have to roll over because my hips ache but I'm able to get back to sleep easily.
Mood changes: Not really a mood but I'm really tired again...ugh.
Cravings: This last week nothing has sounded good.  I take that back.  Things sound good, I make them and then I don't want to eat them/they make me nauseous.
Other symptoms: Slight swelling in my left foot and my fingers
Movement: This baby is so difficult to feel on the outside.  It's like her back is facing outward so all her kicks are toward my spine.  I feel her kicking but no one else really has.  Husband has felt her once, maybe twice. She likes to kick and sit on my bladder so I constantly feel like I need to go to the bathroom but I get there and nothing comes out. It makes me feel a little stabby to be honest.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Food in general.  Just feeling puke-ish lately.
Have you started to show yet:  For sure!

Do you have a name picked out: No, but we have gotten our list down to 3 names.  I'm sure we'll take those names off the list too.  This baby gets to choose her name when she goes to kindergarten.
Maternity clothes:Yep. I still wear some normal clothes that are stretchy and when I have to I wear normal pants with the belly band but holy moley...maternity clothes are the shiz! I received a bunch of hand me downs from Husband's sister and I am loving having maternity shorts.  I have yet to be able to actually find maternity shorts that don't look like underwear made of jeans with an added stretchy panel.  Who are these pregnant ladies wearing shorty-shorts? I've never seen them.
Labor Signs: Nope
Belly Button in or out: in
Wedding rings on or off: on but getting tight.
Looking forward to: Being pregnant for 10 or less weeks!

Things I'm worried about:Not feeling her kick as much as I felt Tate kick.
Things I'm loving: Dreams about the baby.  I have a dream at least once a week that I give birth. Most are weird.  One of the most recent dreams was instead of Lamaze or sitting on an exercise ball or whatever to make contractions easier to manage the nurse would guide you through performing a ballet.  The nurse was in full ballet gear (leotard, point shoes, tutu, hair in a tight bun...) and I was in point shoes and a hospital gown.  The nurse did the actual ballet and I was supposed to watch her and do the same movements with my legs.  It was ridiculous but I delivered a huge baby with lots of brown hair.

Baby Girl: 25 Weeks

25Weeks
Baby is the size of an eggplant (about 9 inches long)
Weighs about 2 pounds

How far along are you? 25 weeks (plus a few days)
Sleep: I've still been sleeping pretty well but still feel tired (thanks Tate!).  I've also had lots of dreams, most of them really weird and detailed.
Mood changes: I feel pretty good emotionally.  Like myself mostly.
Cravings: cold fruit
Other symptoms: Slight lower back ache if I spend a lot of time on my feet.
Movement: Lots of kicks, mostly in my lower stomach.
Anything making you queasy or sick: I'm feeling really good most of the time.  I had a few days of just yucky stomach, not really wanting to eat much.
Have you started to show yet:  For sure!

Do you have a name picked out: Still no name.  I have a few that I like but I'm not sure if I'll like them for her when I see her.  Husband thinks I'm crazy that I want to see her before I decide on a name but I do.
Maternity clothes: I still wear some of my normal pants, some with the belly band and some without.  Maternity pants that don't have the huge stretchy panel are working really well right now. I mostly don't wear maternity shirts but I do have a few that I like to wear.
Labor Signs: Nope
Belly Button in or out: in
Wedding rings on or off: on
Looking forward to: Our family vacation to St. George though it's going to be super hot

Things I'm worried about: How gigantic I'm going to be at the end of the pregnancy.
Things I'm loving: When I ask Tate where the baby is and he points to himself.

Baby Girl: 22 Weeks

22Weeks
Baby is the size of a spaghetti squash (about 8 inches long)
Weighs about 1 pound

How far along are you? 22 weeks
Sleep: This week I've been sleeping really well.  I still feel tired most of the time but I'm going to attribute that to just being pregnant and having a toddler that never stops moving.
Mood changes: Less ornery? Maybe.
Cravings: fruit
Other symptoms: The bottom of my stomach feels like I need to stretch it out.  I'm unsure on how one would do this but I just want to do some lower tummy stretches so badly!  Lots of back aches, especially when I've had a busy day of chasing after Tate.
Movement: I've been feeling lots of kicks right below my bellybutton.  It's pretty cool to know it's the baby now.  At this time with Tate I was still at this "Is that the baby?" stage and never knew if it really was him.
Anything making you queasy or sick: I'm feeling really good.  Nothing has grossed me out lately.
Have you started to show yet:  For sure!

Do you have a name picked out: Oh, goodness.  Girl names are so hard.  I feel like this baby may come home being called baby.
Maternity clothes: Kinda.  Mostly just pants but I can still squeeze in a regular pair of pants if I need to.
Labor Signs: Nope
Belly Button in or out: in
Wedding rings on or off: on
Looking forward to: swimming with Tate

Things I'm worried about: How gigantic I'm going to be at the end of the pregnancy.
Things I'm loving: Feeling Baby Girl move and knowing it is her.

Baby Girl: 20 Weeks

  20Weeks
Baby is the size of a banana (about 7 inches long)
Weighs about 11 ounces

How far along are you? 20 Weeks--Half Way! Wahoo!
Sleep: I seriously cannot sleep with this pregnancy.  I may get 5 hours if I'm lucky.
Mood changes: Still weepy.  Tired.  Not really sad about things anymore (thank goodness!).
Cravings: French fries, always french fries.  Melons.  Though I've not really had any and suck at picking them out.  Cherry Coke and Dirty Cokes but I try to resist most days.  Carmel popcorn, I even had a dream about it one night.
Other symptoms: Crazy dry skin.  My face and hands are the worst but my legs are getting there too.
Movement: Mostly just little bump type kicks.  Mostly on the left.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Weird, gross smells.
Have you started to show yet:  Yep, I feel like I've been showing since about week 6.

Do you have a name picked out: We started really thinking about a name for Baby Girl this week.  Girl names are difficult.  I really don't want anything that's popular-ish but nothing crazy (That means nothing like Sophia/Sophie or Blueberry Truck Captain).  We've made  a list but so far I can't say any are really in the lead.
Maternity clothes: Still needing a belly band but not really able to wear maternity clothes yet.
Labor Signs: Nope
Belly Button in or out: in
Wedding rings on or off: on
Looking forward to: Feeling the baby move more often.

Things I'm worried about: Getting Tate to understand how life will work when a baby comes.
Things I'm loving: Not being sick.

Let's Make This Official

Baby Girl H. is due October 5, 2014.

Yep, there's a baby in my belly.  It's not just lots of french fries and soda (though that has certainly played a part in why I'm looking way more pregnant than I am).

19 Weeks
Baby is the size of a mango (about 6.5 inches long)
Weighs about 10 ounces

How far along are you? 19 Weeks (on Mother's Day)
Morning sickness? Yes. Lots and lots of it!  No throwing up (that is morning sickness related...more on that later) but so sick from about week 4 to week 11.  It's still touch and go some days though.
Are you finding out the sex?! YES! I have no patience to wait another 20 weeks!  I didn't have any "I know it's a _______." moments early like like I did with Tate but I've felt like it's a girl for a while now.  We found out today that she is a GIRL!
Mood changes? I feel like I’m definitely more weepy, I'm crying during commercials on a daily/hourly basis. I've also had a few days that I'm just super sad about everything.
Cravings? Hamburgers and french fries.  Anything and everything that is super unhealthy...I want it everyday for every meal.
Other symptoms? Lots of migraines (throwing up, can't function and no amount of medicine touches them type migraines), can't sleep but super tired, back pain early (like from week 5-8) and sciatica (I don't recommend ever having this...because it was obviously a choice...worst two weeks of my life!)  I also had shingles.  Seriously, am I 80 or David Letterman?  What is going on here?  Not nearly as bad as the sciatica though.
Anything making you queasy or sick? Strong smells...pretty much any strong smell.  Pickles on someone's breath is pretty vomit inducing. For a while eating vegetables (especially raw ones) made me gaggy.
Excited for!? Not being pregnant.  This pregnancy has been a rough one (and yes, I know lots of people have it way worse than I do but I'm a whiner and being pregnant with Tate was a breeze so I'm having difficulty adjusting).
Nursery? We'll probably just move Tate out of his room so I guess I need to work on a big kid room for Tate.
Do you have a name picked out? Not really.  We tend to put things like that off until we know what we're having so let the name suggestions begin!
Any Pregnancy MUST HAVES? I'm thinking I need a pregnancy body pillow.  Maybe that would help me sleep. Any suggestions?
Maternity clothes? I'm at a weird stage where none of my normal clothes really fit and maternity clothes are too big so I'm making it work while looking like a slob and loving my belly band.
Movement: I could swear I have felt little flutterings from about 16 weeks but I'm not sure if it was really Baby Girl.  On Tuesday I felt what I knew where a few kicks from the baby.  She's not nearly as wiggly as Tate was so I don't feel stuff to often yet.

Temple & Hormonal Crying

I had my first pregnant sobbing crying for no real reason today.  Here's everything that I'm saying lead up to it.  Had any circumstance been different I probably wouldn't have cried like someone punched a puppy.

First, I woke up at about 12:30 this morning (after going to bed at 10pm) and could.not.sleep.  I laid in bed being pissed that my husband would have the audacity to sleep (how dare he!) while I was not sleeping.  Finally, after 2 hours of staring at the ceiling, I got up.  I made myself a delicious and healthy lunch, wrote some sub plans, checked out Pinterest.  Finally went back to bed around 4am and woke up at 6am.  I was already feeling weepy and the day had just begun.

After work, Jenny went through the temple for the first time.  I am so stoked for her.  For obvious reasons this also made me a little emotional but the tears remained inside my face...for the moment.

We went outside for some pictures of Jenny's special day.  As we were leaving, someone stepped on my toe.  It killed.  But I held all those built up tears in and then I was fine.

I get to my car and notice a small piece of paper tucked into my door.  I grab it and hop in the car.  After I finally get situated (which takes a really long time as a pregnant lady) I read the note.  Here it is:

I looked at all my windows (which were filthy when I went into the temple) and realized they were all spotless...and I completely lost it.  Sobbing.  Crocodile tears. I couldn't see.  I cried for a good 2 minutes then spent the rest of the drive home trying to compose myself.

Holy cow, hormones.  Dial it back a notch.  I'm officially crazy lady pregnant.

KSL Finds

Remember how I had 6 weeks off school to get the nursery put together?  Yeah, that 6 weeks ends Monday.  I've been a crazy painting, decorating lady the last few days.

Originally, I had not planned to paint the room other than giving the ceiling and base boards a nice coat of white.  But then we dropped the closet doors onto the wall...huge gashes.  So we had to paint.  I'm glad we did because I love the color.  (Listen to me saying "We."  Husband dropped the doors, I painted...giving him credit...geesh)  He probably would have done it all for me but I wanted it done now.  So, I painted...for 6 hours and almost killed myself by falling off the step stool multiple times.

Side note: being pregnant and painting is difficult.  Like hours upon hours to paint a small rectangular room.  Also, I didn't function very well the rest of the day.  My recovery...Otter Pops and a Bones marathon for the rest of the night.

I wanted a glider and a changing table or dresser for the nursery but buying them new?...those things are expensive!  We eventually found both of them on KSL but they were a little on the ugly side.

The changing table was this lovely honey color and it's laminate...just like everything made in the early nineties, lucky us.
Don't hate on my subpar photography skills...I took this after the 6 hours of painting.
Turns out you can paint laminate without sanding...if you use the right primer.  Warning: the primer is stinky!  I'm really hoping I didn't do any permanent damage to me or Baby H. as I was painting.  I would highly recommend not using it in your house...unless you had to because you don't have a garage...or a yard...or any open space.  Even with fans and open windows it stunk for days.
It really is white but my phone doesn't take the best pictures in a dimly lit room and I'm too lazy pregnant to edit the picture.
It looks much better in the room now than it did before.

The glider...oh, the horrible (possibly plastic...yep, that's where I melted the fabric with the iron) fabric on the glider.  Pink corduroy?

For being as old as it is, it's in really good shape but I hated that fabric.

So I unpicked everything, used it as a pattern and made lovely grey suede covers.

The unpicking took for.ev.er. and covered me in teeny tiny threads that I am still finding all over my house and pants.  But all the work was well worth it.  I love how it turned out and I feel pretty awesome to have been able to make these covers look decent.  Not perfect but decent.
