Pregnant Bowling

Being pregnant makes me suck at a lot of things like sleeping, bending over, tying my own shoes, walking, not being swollen.  You get the picture.

One thing pregnancy doesn't make me suck at?  Bowling.  Pregnant me is a fabulous bowler.

Proof:

That's twice in a row.  I know I didn't waste Husband like last time but 120...that's pretty awesome for me.

Bowling...I Win!

Husband and I like to bowl.

In his pre-marriage, pre-LDSBC, pre-there's-a-baby-coming, pre-everything-that-is-awesome-about-his-life-right-now days; he bowled a lot.  So much that he has his own shoes and bowling balls.  From that, you can assume that he is a pretty good bowler.  He generally schools me...hard.

We went bowling for a date night...with Brad...a few weeks ago.  The bowling ally was super deserted.  No waiting at all.  It was awesome.

As we started to bowl, I realized something...I was going to win.  Not tie...like this epic time...but win.
In case you can't see it well enough to read:
Brad: 98
Anthony: 101
Ash: 115

Love Month 2012 Day Something

I love...

When I come home to Husband washing the dishes.  Oh, happy day!  I've been putting that off so long we ran out of clean spoons.

I love...

when Husband says funny things in his sleep.  It doesn't happen too often but it always makes me laugh.

"Make sure you hit him hard enough that I don't get my arm cut off."  Classic.

If Our Marriage Was a Baby...

...he would be
  • Starting to walk while holding onto things
  • Feeding himself
  • Throwing temper tantrums
  • Showing more of his personality
  • Dropping objects on purpose
But our marriage is a marriage, not a baby.

Happy 11 monthiversary, Husband!

Who's Gonna Be a Momma?

Not me...at least not yet.

I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant freaks me out.  Whenever I watch it I feel like I may one day be on this show because I'm a pregnancy hypochondriac.

Here's a little background on why being pregnant is on my mind:

Yep, my sisters are that cool.
My sisters announced on Facebook that I was expecting...triplets....that was really cool.  Especially the part where I got a million texts and Husband fed the fire...ugh.

So, as a heads up to everyone...you will (hopefully) hear that I'm pregnant from my own mouth before you hear it on Facebook.  Don't believe anything you see on Facebook...even if I was the one who posted it...thanks a lot Ryan Wayne!

7 Months

Holy Cow!  If our marriage was a baby, he would be:
  • beginning to crawl
  • eating "adult foods" (aka crackers)
  • getting his first teeth
but he's not a baby, he's a marriage.  And he is doing great!  Much better than a baby and his cracker.

Love, love, love...we're in love.

Netflix Makes Me Happy

Husband has been MIA because he's been helping a friend paint his new house.  This has lead to me finding and watching very lame things on Netflix.

Today, I watched Revenge of the Bridesmaids.  I found it hilarious! (note: I was also sick and had a bunch of Nyquil in my system.)  My favorite part was the pillow fight.  Holy cow.  I laughed so hard I cried and silent laughed all over the couch.

Here's the clip...it starts a bit early.  Go to 7:14 if you want to wet your pants after laughing your guts out.

Really ladies.  After you watch this you're going to want to send your hubbies/boyfs/etc. out for a boys night so you can enjoy this beauty.  It's that good.  It's obviously that good because it's on demand on Netflix...only the best movies are on demand.

P.S. I just watched the clip...still just as funny.

What's in a Name?

I've spent the past two hours looking up baby names.

No, I'm not pregnant.  No, I'm not planning on becoming pregnant in the near future.  The truth is, Husband isn't home. I am less than productive when Husband isn't home.

However, I now have a list with over 30 baby names that I am in love with...now if I can just talk Husband into loving those names too...and narrowing it down to about 5 names.

How Things Have Changed

Last year at this time, I was blogging about how my students had stopped making each other and me cry (woot, woot!) for the last 5 months and how it was no wonder I didn't have a boyfriend.

Very different now...I'm freaking married...for 5 months already.  It blows my mind how much life can change within a year.

Maybe by this time next year I'll have a baby...hint, wink, seriously?

All By Myself...

Husband was asked to go on a business trip to Washington, D.C.  And he didn't take me.

He left at 1 this afternoon.  I was a big girl and went to his sister's house for a birthday party all by myself (these are big steps in the life of Ash H).

As much as I enjoy alone time...I'm kinda over it now (yes, it's only been 7 hours).

Hopefully I'll be really productive over these next few days and the house will sparkle and I'll be well rested and all the school things will be done and we'll have a nice day together when he gets back.

Epic Date Night

Tuesday is date night 'round these parts (we're also cowboys apparently).

Tonight we ate at the Blue Plate Diner (featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives) then took a drive up the canyon.  It was very epic.

The most epic part of the night?

Our quick trip to Iceland.  Who knew there's some sort of sci-fi portal from Big Cottonwood Canyon to Iceland?  Pretty cool, right?  You totally want to move to Utah now.

I live in West Jordan.  I understand when my phone says I'm in Salt Lake or Taylorsville...or even West Valley but Reykjavik, Iceland?  What the...?

Easy A

Husband and I were was watching Easy A a couple nights ago (mostly because it was an on demand movie on Netflix and Huband was ignoring me while trying to fix our TV because he totally broke it.  Side note: it's now fixed...good jorb Husband.)

Thing you need to know: the main character's name is Olive.

I always ask Husband things like, "When we have kids, can we name one of them Basket?"  "How would you like to have a child named Contraption?"  You know, normal torment your husband kinds of things.  He's learned to just ignore me.

As we I watched the movie, I began to really like the name Olive.  So I asked Husband, "Can we name one of our daughters Olive?"

Husband: "Sure.  We could name her Olivia and call her Olive."
Me: "No, I already have a cousin named Olivia.  We can't do that.  I like the name Olive."
Husband's reaction? Silence.  Just silence.

Am I a weirdy for liking that name?  I'm for real, very-much-thinking-of-having-a-little-girl-named-Olive-in-the-future, liking that name.

Today Goes Under the Heading "Splendid"

Here are all the reasons why today was absolutely splendid:

  • My principal is working on hiring a replacement for Andrea and from the looks of it she's probably going to be young and on the same page as the rest of us.
  • The morning was beautiful.
  • I got princess parking both times I came home today.
  • We won one of our softball games (btw, this is big deal.  We've never won before.)
  • On the way home from my game, I didn't hit one red light.  Not a single one.  That turned the normal 25 minute drive into a 12 minute drive...freaking amazing!
  • My great friends Ryan and Jaynee got engaged.
  • I'm married to an amazing man...for the rest of forever!

This Took Me a Long Time to Write

We all know I'm not a lovey-dovey, gooey-wooey kind of person but today I'm going to go a bit goo fest (for me) on you.

Today is our 4 month-iversary.  We don't really celebrate them but I always make a point to say (Who am I kidding?  It's usually a text.  I'm never up early enough to say it to him.  Super romantic, yes?) it to Husband early in the morning.  Today was no exception.

Husband: Hello love.  8 hours away from a long weekend.
Me: Woot!  I love longs weekends!  And happy 4 month-iversary! :)
Husaband: Happy 4 month-iversary to you too!

(See, it was all so romantic.)

Even after all that romanticism,  the day went on like any other Friday...spelling test, vocabulary test, assembly, reading, art, music, recess, see ya next week.

I finished up the day by planning and ordering supplies for next year and was home a little before 5pm.  Husband was already home.

He had left work early and bought me flowers.  I think the earlier was a necessity for the later but he claims to have just thought to buy me flowers as he was driving home.  Suuuurrrrre.
They are way prettier in real life, promise.
If you're wondering where all the gooey stuff comes in, this is just the background...stay with me.

Let me preface this section with these two facts: I love my husband and I know he loves me.

It all began last night as Husband and I were laying in bed trying to fall asleep.  Earlier in the day we had visited a friend from our previous ward that was in a terrible car accident and may not make it.  Husband commented that death doesn't upset him like it does a lot of people.  Mostly because he knows this world is not the end and that we will see all of these people again.  I told him that's totally opposite from me.  Death and pain have always affected me greatly, even when it's people that I don't know well.  I know the same things as Husband, I know that I will see these people again but knowing that I will have to live for however long it is until I get to see them again is upsetting.  I love people and the thought of not getting to experience life with them anymore makes me really sad.  We talked a bit more about how we differ in this respect then lay silently.  Pondering.

As I lay there, an overwhelming feeling of love for him came over me.  I love every single little thing about him.  I realize that sounds weird.  I married him.  Of course I love everything about him.  But this was different.  I obviously don't have the words to describe it adequately or I would but I knew, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that I had made the right decision and I was going to be happy with Husband forever.

Today, when I got home from work, we were just talking about how our days were and I had the exact  feeling.  The best part?  I know that he loves me as much as I love him.

Moral of the story: If you're dating someone awesome and contemplating getting married...DO IT!  Buy the ring, pop the quesiton, get married.  It's freaking amazing.

Life is good.

My (Really Late) Birthday Present

Remember how I had a birthday back in March?  Well, I did.

Around my birthday, Husband and I were at Ikea.  We saw this lovely shelf.  Husband said he could make one.  I was doubtful.  He insisted.

Two months later...it's finally (almost) done.  This is what the friends and husband did while I was gone last night.  Apparently, the shelf is really sturdy.

Friends not included.

The Time Husband Almost Spent the Rest of his Life in the Doghouse

Today started out awesome.

The sun was shining.  Spring had sprung.  I was stoked.

It was my last Wednesday off-track and one of the last days that I had to actually run some errands.  I went all over and everywhere I went I ended up with the perfect parking spot.

The radio was only playing songs I loved.

Everything made me smile.  Children were adorable, puppies were cuddly, I was going to play softball.  The day was glorious.  Was is the key word in this sentence.

When Husband and I got to the field I handed him my phone and wedding rings to hold onto while I played.  In retrospect, that was probably a bad idea.

Here's how the day went from amazing and awesome and all adjectives that only mean good things to a day that I cried and wanted to punch things (by things I mostly mean Husband...no, I'm not violent):

About half way through the game, T. somehow bloodied his knee.  I sent Husband to the car to check my purse to see if I had any band aids...I didn't, T. continued to bleed throughout the game.

Game ends, we head to the car.  As we're driving away, Husband begins fishing in his pocket for my rings.  He hands me the band and I say, "That's only one."  "I know," as he continues to fish without any luck.  He pulls over, opens the door and digs around in the seats.  It's not there.  "We should probably go back, huh?"  "Yes, we should," I choked out.

We drive back to the softball field.  Keep in mind that it's about 9:30 and super dark.  We get out of our car and begin looking around with flashlights.  Some people were still around ans tried to help us.  After looking for about 15 minutes one guy who was helping us said "I have a metal detector and I only live about 10 minutes away.  I'll run home and get it then run back here."

Fast forward 90 minutes, 3 people with flashlights, 1 man with a metal detector and head lamp, many tears and many times feeling like it was gone and we were never going to find the ring...I finally found it.  It was a moment of pure joy.  I was elated.

So lesson learned...keep the ring on my finger or in my house.  Got it.
