Today Goes Under the Heading "Splendid"

Here are all the reasons why today was absolutely splendid:

• My principal is working on hiring a replacement for Andrea and from the looks of it she's probably going to be young and on the same page as the rest of us.
• The morning was beautiful.
• I got princess parking both times I came home today.
• We won one of our softball games (btw, this is big deal.  We've never won before.)
• On the way home from my game, I didn't hit one red light.  Not a single one.  That turned the normal 25 minute drive into a 12 minute drive...freaking amazing!
• My great friends Ryan and Jaynee got engaged.
• I'm married to an amazing man...for the rest of forever!

Freaky Quiet

The joys of CRTs.

Though I hate them like Batman hates the Joker, I do love the silence. I took this of me just sitting there while they tested. My class has NEVER, EVER been this quiet in their lives. I'm calling it a miracle.

Like freaky quiet. Sorry that video is kinda creepy of me. I didn't want anyone to know I was taking it.

Moral of this blog post: When you try to do things in secret, you end up looking like a dork.

P.S.  My hair looks like that because I just had it dyed and can't wash it for 48 hours.  Hour 0-24 of no washing was fine.  Hours 25-48 are scary.  My hair has taken on a life of it's own. Stay tuned for nice clean hair tomorrow.

How Often Does This Happen to You?

You put your iPod on shuffle and skip through almost every song until you find one you really want to listen to? I do it all the time.

I swear I like all the songs on my iPod but when it goes into shuffle mode I hate them. It's a weird cosmic event.

Today was a different day though. It was like my iPod was giving me a musical, early birthday present. Every song was like my iPod was saying, "I love you, Ash J. You're amazing. Here's an amazing song. You're welcome." Song after song it happened. I never had to skip, not once.

I spent my 20 minute drive to school and 20 minutes home from school singing to songs like it was my American Idol audition. I belted out such classics as The Thing Song by Sisqo, Billy Jean by Michael Jackson, Brown Eyes by Destiny's Child, Don't Let it Go to Your Head by Fefe Dobson, I Can Hear the Bells from Hairspray, Lean on Me by Bill Withers, Disney classics like One Jump Ahead and Part of Your World, 99 Problems (with some self editing) by Jay-Z, Eh, Eh by Lady Gaga, Take My Hand by The Cab, and Like a Boy by Ciara.

Oh. It was a magical car ride. Thanks, iPod. You're the best even if your battery life is about as long as my students' attention span.

What I Love...Day 12

I love...

...the Olympics. I love watching the opening ceremonies, especially the parade of nations. I love seeing how awestruck some of the athletes are by just being there. It always chokes me up a little.

This is going to sound super corny but I'm going to say it anyway...I love seeing all the nations come in because it's almost like a perfect little world. For that small moment, no one is fighting, all is right in the world, and the nations are one. Oh, it's great.

Magical Monday

Top 3 reasons today was magical:

3. The 16 year old kiddo at Office Max didn't make me pay for my copy. Yep, it was probably like 10 cents but it made me feel awesome so here's to you sophomore with your first job...virtual high five!


2. I got a water softener. Oh happy day...and hair...and laundry...and dishes...and...showers...and everything else that uses water.

1. Since I started going to college all my hobbies went away but people still asked me "What are some of your hobbies?" I never had an answer...until today. I found my new hobby that I will gladly share with anyone who asks (and those lucky few who follow my blog). I will also write it on anything and everything that asks me for a hobby. No one will ever wonder what my hobby is again...Dominating 12 year olds at dodge ball. Yep, I rule.
