Trifecta Rings

Once upon a time three boys like the trifecta so much they each put a ring on it.

 So I wore all of them.

The real reason for this post is that Jenny got engaged today!  Woot!

I just got my scores back from the PLT (Principles of Learning and Teaching) Test and I PASSED!!!

Two More Weeks...For REAL!

Two weeks until I'm officially married.  I can hardly wait.

And to top it all off I think most of the wedding stuff is done.  Woot team Ash!  Way to plan in a totally awesome way that obviously worked even though everyone around you was freaking out and telling you how things weren't going to get done.  Looks like they're all eating their words now.

Ahhh...sweet victory.

Invites

We finished our invitations last night.

They go out today.

Man!  I'm getting so excited.

It Came!

Nope...not snow or Santa or a truck full of happy attitudes for my 6th graders.

It came.

Oh, man!  I'm so excited to wear it.  It's so much cuter with the natural peacock feathers.

I'd post pictures but I want it to be a surprise when the wedding pictures come out...or when you come to my wedding.

Free at Last!

Hallelujah!  I'm done with the endorsement part of my MEd.

I'm taking at least 1 semester off.  I was burnt out before this semester even started but I made it through and get to enjoy the rest of the school year not doing homework.

Life will be good from January to May.  I'm so stoked.

Good Things Happen Sometimes

You know how I was whining about being super busy? 

As I worked from 8am to 10:30pm I was contemplating how I was going to get all the reading done for my MEd. class tomorrow.  My final decision was that I would just stay up ridiculously late and read until my eyeballs fell out.

I came home and pulled out my syllabus.  Guess what.  Turns out I've already done the homework for tomorrow.  What the what?  Ash J. has her homework done early?  Yes, yes I do. 

I'm off to bed...yippee for getting to sleep before midnight. 

Happy Half Birthday to Me!

Yesterday was one of the best days of my life.  Up to now.  Period. End of story.

September 12th is my half birthday.  (I know, that's a very 5-year-old thing to keep track of but hear me out on why they are so awesome...First, you're not actually getting any older (yes, you're a day older but people age in years, not days); second, there's no pressure to make it awesome; third, who doesn't want an excuse to have a party?  I could go on and on about the advantages of half-birthdays but I won't because that's not what this post is about.)

Here's how my oh so amazing day went down:

I started the day off by going to church, which is always awesome.  Instead of going to my ward's sacrament meeting, I was able to go to Amanda and Thomas' ward for Amanda's confirmation.  It was so good.  I am so stoked for her.  She was so happy.


Following Amanda's confirmation, I made chili and cornbread for dinner with Anthony, Jaynee, and Jenny.  It was stinking delicious!  Then we had a pizookie for dessert.  Holy moley.  If you don't know what a pizookie is, you're missing out.  Here's a little explanation...take cookie dough, put it in a small pie tin, cook until it's done on the outsides but still slightly gooey in the middle, top with ice cream, devour.  So good.  There may be pictures one day.


Jenny and I then went to set up refreshments for the CES fireside.  We listened to Elder Richard G. Scott speak.  He is such an amazing man.  It was a great fireside.  Originally, I did not plan on going.  I'm so glad I did now.

When the fireside was over, I expected people to come to my house to hang out because that's what we do.  Anthony was giving me a ride home.  He was taking forever.  I was tired and just wanted to go home.


We finally headed home and I saw all my friends' cars in the parking lot.  As I was walking up to my complex, I realized that all the lights in my house were off.  What the heck are they doing in there in the dark?  Weirdos!

Then it dawned on me.  It was my half birthday and no one had said anything about it.  These little cuties were throwing a surprise party for me.  Yippee-I-O-Ki-Ay!

Any way you say it...German, Spanish, Italian, French, Portuguese, Dutch, English...I only have 3 more days of school left. 

I think I can make it...but pray for me just in case.

Lake Powell

I came back from Lake Powell yesterday.  I'm burned to a crisp.  What's new? 

Here are the pictures that vaguely sum up my trip.  (There are more pictures coming but I wanted to get this out there.)

Devin choosing to be a walrus at the best pizza place I've ever been to.  Too bad I can't remember what it was called.  I do know it was in Lake Powell at Wahweep.

My hair made a power-play to be part of a lesbian power couple...or Donald Trump.

Funny story...I decided to get a spray tan the day before we left...I suck at spray tans apparently.  My feet were all kinds of disgusting looking.  Finally my flip flops began to wear some of the color off my feet.  This picture doesn't do the horribleness justice.

 We hiked to Rainbow Bridge...Not a difficult hike but when it's closing in on 105 you end up looking like this at the end...not pretty.

We were stuck on the boat for hours (due to unforeseen circumstances) without being able to get in the water.  Finally we got in the water.  Oh, happy day! 

Miss J.--1, Charter School--0

I got word a few days ago that one of my students who transferred to a charter school (find out how I feel about charter schools here) in October is coming back to my class. Wahoo!

She and her father both agreed that she was not learning as much at this new school as she did with me. Woot. Makes me feel so good to know that I am making a difference and I am a good teacher, as opposed to how I was feeling here and here.

Happiness of Today

Things that have made me incredibly happy today:

These roses (my sister gave them to me for my birthday...they've hung on for a long time). When she gave them to me I had to just set them on the kitchen counter because I didn't have a vase. They've been in random containers since. Today, I finished off the last of the jelly and I though, "Instant vase." I love them now that they are in a jelly jar. I'm kinda ghetto, ok? But it is super cute, admit it.

Eating apples and peanut butter for lunch. Have you ever had the organic peanut butter from Costco? Holy cow! It's amazing! I could drink it for 3 meals a day...but I won't because that would probably be weird to some people...but it really is that good!

I just realized this as I was putting off finishing a project for one of my classes...

I will have my MASTER'S in one year and 1 month!

Holy crap-balls, Batman! That's so soon! One stinking year...I can make it through! Go team, go!
