Today, I posted all the pictures on Facebook, changed my status. . .you know, all the things you're supposed to do when you get engaged.

A few hours later I get this text from a student I had last year:

I love this kid.  She's a riot.

*This is exactly how the text came in.  I promise I did teach her how to spell and write in formal English.  I'm not a bad teacher.

F: "Why don't we go on lots of field trips? It's because our school is poor, huh. We're One Title or something aren't we? What does that even mean?"

Me: "Our school is a Title One school. It just means that we are..." [L interrupts]

L.: "We're so poor we can't even afford Tampico."

6th grader logic, if you can afford Tampico, you are rich.

The truth...I can afford Tampico but I am not rich.
