19 Weeks 20 Weeks

How far along? 20 Weeks...the last appointment bumped me up a week.  Baby is due September 12, 2012 now...exactly 6 months after my birthday.
Total weight gain/loss: At the doctor, last Thursday, I had gained 4 pounds since the the last visit.  Oh, my.  Maybe it's time to start exercising a bit more.  7 pounds total.
Maternity clothes? Not yet though we're getting close to needing them.
Stretch marks? No
Sleep: I'm still sleeping pretty well though my hips (and sometimes my back) are sore when I wake up.
Have you told family and friends: Yes, even random people I generally never talk to know I'm pregnant now.
Miss Anything? Sushi
Movement: Not yet.  At least nothing that I'm sure is movement.  I'll occasionally feel a few bumps in my lower stomach but not sure if it's the baby or just regular body things.  At our ultrasound appointment, the technician kept saying how wiggly he is.  She was surprised I hadn't felt anything yet.  Tell me about it, lady.
Food cravings: French fries and spicy things
Anything making you queasy or sick: The smell of pickles, especially on someone's breath...gag!  I still like to eat pickles I just try not to smell them.
Have you started to show yet: Yes.  I went to bed last Friday looking like I was getting chubby and woke the next day looking like a pregnant lady.  It was crazy.
Gender prediction: I've been thinking boy the whole time and on Friday we found out it is a BOY!
Labor Signs: No
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Generally still feeling pretty happy.  Tired but happy.
Looking forward to: Feeling the baby move.

Baby Names

As of right now, Baby H. is often referred to as "Hurricane," (which came from How I Met Your Mother) but not like a storm with a violent wind...like the Southern Utah city (pronounced her-a-kin).

Some other amazing names the family and friends have come up with for Baby H.:
  • Hurrakin, Katniss, Peeta (if it really was triplets)
  • (After a trip through Southern Utah): Kamas, Juab (pronounced Jew-ab), Weber, Kanab
  • (If it's twins; a boy and a girl) Martin and Ellie...you know, like the drink...Martinelli's...it's funny.
  • Justin Bieber Heber...which slowly morphed into a sexually transmitted disease (Oh, no!  I've got the JBH!)
  •  Spicy Packet

Finding Out

I made the appointment for our anatomy ultrasound.

We will (hopefully) find out what Baby H. is (as long as he/she is cooperative) on Friday afternoon.

So stoked, people.  So stoked!

Macaroni Grill Bread

I made this bread with dinner last night.  It was the bomb dot com.  I think I'll double it next time.
Go make it asap!

Perks of Having 26 Twelve Year Olds

My students know I am pregnant now.  They're stoked.  I actually told them I was pregnant yesterday.  Here's how it went:

Me: "Hey, you guys wanna hear a secret?"
Every single student in the room with wide, excited eyes: "YES!"
As I'm opening my mouth, A.M. interrupts with: "You're pregnant!" then snickers like he's made a funny joke.
Me: "Well, actually, yes.  I am pregnant."
Blank stares.  Confused choruses of, "Wait.  What?  Really?"
Me: "Yes, I'm really pregnant."
Still blank stares.

I told my husband about this when I got home yesterday.
Husband: "Don't worry.  They'll go home and tell their moms and be really excited tomorrow."

Turns out husbands know everything.  That's exactly what happened.  Except he forgot to mention the pissed off part.  They're excited and pissed.  Excited for the baby but pissed I didn't tell them immediately.  I had to explain that pregnant ladies don't usually tell people until later.  That was a new concept for them.  They still think they should have known right after I told husband.  Sorry, guys...maybe next time.

Here's where the perks are coming in.

Now that they know I'm pregnant they don't give me a hard time about eating in front of them or resting my legs on their desks or making them walk to me because "my feet hurt."

I may see if they'll push me around in my wheely chair all day tomorrow.  Perks.

Back to Work

I'd love to say this is not going to turn into a baby blog but we all know it will so let's just face the facts now:

1) I will be blogging about the baby about 90% of the time
2) You will enjoy reading about it
3) If you don't, you must hate babies or me or happiness...OR you hate all three and you're a monster

That being said, today was my first day back at school after my three weeks off track. No, I still haven't told my students (I was going to but 2 of my students were absent and when I was in 5th grade my teacher told the class she was pregnant on a day I wasn't there and it obviously is still bothering me so I want to make sure I have 100% attendance before I tell them.  Hopefully that happens soon because it's getting more and more difficult to hide the baby gut.).

The one thing I miss about being home is being able to eat any time I get hungry and eat anything I want.  Teaching for the next 9 weeks may keep me from gaining ridiculous amounts of baby weight but it also makes me super sick.  I felt horrible by the time I finally made it home.

Tip for tomorrow: PACK MORE SNACKS!

Things I've Done That Prove I'm Pregnant

...beside taking the actual pregnancy test.
  • Watched Tangled and bawled.
  • Eaten vast amounts of cheese (remember how much I hate cheese?)
  • Become super nauseous every night around 8pm.
  • Slept about 10 hours per night and still feel exhausted by 9pm.
  • Watched The Amazing Race and cried at everything.  I don't even know why I was crying.
  • Read The Hunger Games and bawled hysterically when reading the part where they do the reaping (all these people having to give up their kids?  Tragic.) and where Rue dies (sorry for the spoiler, you should have read it by now anyway.).
  • Wanted to eat nothing but french fries.

Baby Things That Happened Before I Told Anyone I Was Pregnant

Since we began trying to have a baby I've used the blog to write down different important/silly/ridiculous pregnant things.  Here they all are:

December 27, 2012
I know I'm pregnant.

Okay, I don't know know I'm pregnant but I just feel like I am.  It's an odd feeling.  I don't know how I know but I know.  Now I just have to wait a few more weeks to actually take a pregnancy test that will tell me for sure.

 January 5, 2012
I have been exhausted the last few days and I've been nauseous most nights.  I've found peppermint gum helps the nausea.  I love you, peppermint gum.

I still don't know I'm pregnant but according to my phone I'm just starting week 4 and baby is the size of a poppy seed.

If I am pregnant and I take all the baby advice from my phone the baby is due on September 19, 2011...that's about 9 weeks into next year's school year.  Hmmm...don't know how that's going to work out.

January 12, 2012
I'm officially pregnant!
Here's the proof.

January 17, 2012
I'm dying to tell people that I'm pregnant but I'm only 5 weeks along.  Probably not the best idea to spread the news right now.

I went back to work today.  I thought it was going to be terrible because I've been feeling sick and tired all the time but it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be.

Someone said I was "looking so skinny and beautiful" today.  That's pretty awesome...kinda. I guess it's still okay to be "skinny" and I should probably enjoy it while it lasts, I feel like I'm probably going to gain at least one billion pounds.

February 16, 2012
I've felt really good the last couple of days.

I'm just barely 10 weeks pregnant and am glad I'm feeling better but scared that because I feel good something is wrong with the baby.

My first appointment is Tuesday.  Super excited about that!

February 21, 2012
We had our first doctor appointment today.
Turns out it's not triplets like the sisters thought it would be.

Baby looks like it's doing well and it has a heartbeat.  The baby is measuring 2 days bigger than I actually am but at this point it's not much to go off of.  Hopefully at the next appointment (or the one after that) I'll have more information.

So far so good though.

March 7, 2012
I'm still waiting for my hair to come in thick and healthy and stop falling out all over the place.  I think I'm shedding more now than before I was pregnant.  Come on baby!  Help your momma out!  Thick, luxurious hair would be great for both of us.

I'm starting week 12 today.  I still have only told my immediate family.  I keep seeing people on Facebook announce their pregnancies and they are due after me.  That seems crazy to me.  I'd be perfectly happy not telling anyone and just pretending I'm getting fat in pregnant lady type ways.  I'm sure we'll start telling people soon.  I'm thinking I'll tell my team at work on my last day on track (March 16) and close friends around the same time.  Facebook...not so sure about when that will happen.  If it will ever happen with my Facebook track record.  I don't know if anyone would believe it.

For some reason I have no desire to tell my students.  Think I can hide the fact that I'll almost be 6 months pregnant in June?  We'll see.  Maybe I'll just start "eating lots of donuts" so I have an excuse to be fat.

March 19, 2012
Lots of people know about the pregnancy now.

It's been nice to not have a secret anymore but there are still groups of people I just never want to tell.  Not because I don't want them to know just because I don't want to tell them.  I'm a weirdo.

I'm starting to feel a little bit better now.  Tomorrow is my second appointment with Dr. England.  Pretty exciting.  I'm not sure what the appointment entails other than peeing in a cup.  I really want to have another ultrasound but I don't know if that's going to happen.  I'm thinking we'll be able to find out the sex of the baby at next month's appointment.  That is crazy.  I'll be half way in 6 weeks.

I found out last night that some friends are getting married 3 days after my due date.  The baby really needs to come early now so that I can make it to the wedding.  I really want to be there.

I'm still at the point where I don't feel like any of this pregnancy stuff is real.  I just feel fat, lazy and tired.

April 3, 2012
I've realized I officially cannot suck in my baby gut any more.  I guess it's more baby than gut now which is awesome but also means I probably won't be able to hide it from anyone much longer.
