Baby Girl: One Month

Baby Girl is one month! This month has flown by. It's hard to remember a time without Brynn in our lives.

Brynn is an eating machine. She was 5 pounds 10 ounces when she was born and 5 pounds 6 ounces when we left the hospital. By October 6 (one week after she was born) she was back up to her birth weight. At her two week appointment (the doctor hoped she would be back to birth weight by this appointment) she was 6 pounds 9 ounces and the doctor was very impressed. I'm not sure what she weighs now because Tate broke our scale but I'm guessing she's closing in on 8 pounds.

She is very alert and is awake much more than Tate was at this age.

Along with being an eating machine, she's a pooping champion. She is always pooping. Sometimes she even gets some distance with undiapered poops. Take it from me, poop shooting out of a baby's bum is both terrifying and hilarious. And gross.

Happy 1 month birthday, Baby Girl!

Bay Girl: Newborn Pictures

We had Brynn's newborn pictures taken today. We also tried to get a few with Tate in them and mostly failed at that but at least there was one decent one of the two of them.

Also, when we got in the car to go to the studio (which is 5 minutes away, tops) Brynn did not have two scratches on her nose. When we arrived, she did. Ugh.

Baby Girl: She's Here!

Today, I had a doctor appointment. Like I said I was worried about I had more protein in my urine and my blood pressure was pretty high so my doctor was worried and said I had two options: I could collect my urine for a whole day (this may be a TMI post, yes?) or I could go in now and be induced today.

After some convincing by my doctor (I was already dilating and had a "favorable cervix") and some hormonal tears I decided to be induced. I made arrangements for Tate for the afternoon and called Husband to have him meet me at the hospital.

I was checked in by 11 and started on pitocin soon after.  My contractions started pretty quickly and were coming about every 3 minutes but were pretty easy to handle. Around noon my doctor came in and broke my water. That's when the contractions started to get a lot stronger. I said this with Tate and I'll say it again, unmedicated birth...you ladies are super amazing. I was at a 7 and feeling lots of pain so I decided to get my epidural. From there everything progressed pretty quickly. A bit before 3pm I was feeling a lot of pressure so I had the nurse come check me. I was at a 10 and she could feel the head. My doctor came in a few minutes later and I started pushing with the next contraction. After two pushes during the first contraction, Baby Girl was born. I didn't expect her to come out so fast and it completely surprised me when they put her on my chest.

Baby Girl: 39 Weeks

How far along are you? 39 weeks   

Sleep: Sleeping has been great this week. I sleep pretty soundly through the night (though I'm waking up 2-3 times a night to go to the bathroom) and sometimes Tate even lets me nap during the day when he decides he also needs a nap. 

Mood changes: Anxious...so ready to have this baby already! I am blown away by the fact that I am still pregnant at 39 weeks. I never in a million years thought I was going to make it this far!   

Cravings: Really cold things. Water, fruit, things that are quick and easy to make.
Other symptoms: Achy everywhere, lower back really hurts all of the time. Same swollen feet and tingly hand.
Movement: Not nearly as much as she was but she's still there kicking really hard occasionally. 
Anything making you queasy or sick: Not really. I've had really bad heartburn lately though
Have you started to show yet:  Yep.  
Do you have a name picked out: Nope. 
Maternity clothes:Always.  
Labor Signs: I'm pretty positive I'm having very infrequent contractions. I'm not sure if they're Barxton Hicks or real ones but they're annoying mostly because they're not leading anywhere. Hurry up and get here baby!
Belly Button in or out: in  
Wedding rings on or off: Engagement ring on, wedding band off.  
Looking forward to: Having our baby here and not being pregnant anymore.
Things I'm worried about: That I'll go into my next appointment and the doctor will tell me I have to be induced (I had a little protein in my urine last week and he said we just need to watch it and make sure it doesn't get worse).
Things I'm loving:Knowing that baby is officially full term and she should be just fine when she comes out.

Year of Tate: Day 267

We went to Thanksgiving Point today. We finally bought a pass and visited The Museum of Natural Curiosity, The Museum of Ancient Life and Farm Country.

My goal was to walk myself into labor (that didn't work) but I did wear Tate out.

He loved the Museum of Natural Curiosity but it was still a bit busy and he has a really hard time sharing spaces and toys so we went to the other areas hoping for less crowds.

Tate was not a fan of the Museum of Ancient Life and we left pretty quickly. He loved the animals at Farm Country and especially loved the wagon ride and the pony ride. He even let me take a picture of him on the horse.

His very favorite part was the fact that they stamped his hand at each entrance. He tried to show anyone who walked past us all his stamps. When I would ask what he was going to tell his dad about he would stick out his hands and say "Stamp!"

Baby Girl: 38 Weels

Sleep: I'm still in the okay sleeping category. My hips are so sore that I can barely move after I've been laying on one side for an hour or more that sometimes I can't get back to sleep.
Mood changes: So so tired.  
Cravings: Cafe Rio, Five Guys...basically anything I didn't have to cook.  
Other symptoms: Same things: achy back, numb fingers on my right hand, swollen feet  
Movement: She seems to have slowed down a bit but still kicking pretty hard.  
Anything making you queasy or sick: The possible contractions I've been having. I say possible because I don't know that they are real contractions but whatever they are they make me feel like I'm going to puke.  
Have you started to show yet:  Yep.  
Do you have a name picked out: Nope. How about Baby Girl Heber.  
Maternity clothes:Always.  
Labor Signs: I'm not sure. On Tuesday night, I was convinced I was having really early contractions (I have no idea what those actually feel like because I didn't have any with Tate. I googled the crap out of things and of course I came to the conclusion that they were, in fact, early contractions and we would be having the baby some time the next day...that obviously didn't happen.) I still don't know what they were...Braxton Hicks? Actual contractions that didn't lead anywhere? Who knows.  
Belly Button in or out: in  
Wedding rings on or off: Engagement ring on, wedding band off.  
Looking forward to: Meeting our baby girl. I really hope she comes on Saturday because then our wedding anniversary, Tate's birthday and Baby Girl's birthday would all fall on the 27th of different months.  
Things I'm worried about: That labor will go super quickly and I won't get to the hospital/won't get an epidural OR labor will go super long and be miserable.  
Things I'm loving: In two-ish weeks, or less, we'll be a family of four. That's crazy but so fun and exciting.

*At my 38 week appointment (on Tuesday 9/23) I was dilated to a 4 but still with only a softening cervix. I'm really hoping she comes this week!

Year of Tate: Day 261

September 18, 2014

We went to the aquarium today after a lot of time away.

It was empty and blissful. No crowds make for a much better experience. I highly suggest getting there when they open now that all the kids are back in school.

Tate is still in a "no pictures. EVER." kind of mood so this is the best one I got.

Sleep: It's been okay this week. Not wonderful but better than it has been in the last few weeks.
Mood changes: Just tired
Cravings: All the sugar
Other symptoms: Same things: achy back, numb fingers on my right hand, swollen feet
Movement: Lots of kicks up around my ribs, some a really painful. She's getting really strong and makes my belly wiggle all over the place.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Not this week, wahoo!
Have you started to show yet:  Yep.
Do you have a name picked out: Still no name.
Maternity clothes:Always.
Labor Signs: I don't think so.
Belly Button in or out: in
Wedding rings on or off: Off, generally. I finally picked them back up from the jewelry store and they are so shiny and pretty. I also realized/remembered I can wear one at a time and they aren't too tight so I think I'm going to do that and see how it goes.
Looking forward to: Wearing both of my wedding rings again!
Things I'm worried about: Knowing if her head is down or not. I get an ultrasound tomorrow to find out though. Hopefully I'll even get a print out of her cute little face.
Things I'm loving: Knowing that I can have her any day now and she should be fine.

**at the 37 week doctor appointment we had an ultrasound which told us that baby's head is down, about 6.4 pounds and I'm at 2cm with a softening cervix. So, maybe there will be a baby this week...maybe not.

Year of Tate: Day 253

September 10, 2014

Tate likes minty things. He loves peppermint candies and will eat them all day if we let him. Husband decided to give him a piece of a Listerine strip one day and Tate was all about it. He eats them and immediately asks for more.

Sleep: Oh, man! This has been an awful week for sleeping. It takes me forever to fall asleep then I'm waking up every hour or so because I'm sore or just because my body thinks I need to be awake.
Mood changes: Tired and ornery.
Cravings: Frosted Flakes.
Other symptoms: The swelling in my feet has made it to the point that it doesn't go away. I go to sleep with super swollen feet and ankles and wake up with slightly less swollen feet and ankles.
Movement: Not nearly as much. More pushing than anything.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Feeling good this week.
Have you started to show yet:  Yep.
Do you have a name picked out: Still no name. We added a couple more names to our list but no "this is her name" name yet.
Maternity clothes: Always
Labor Signs: Nope.
Belly Button in or out: in
Wedding rings on or off: Off.
Looking forward to: The baby coming very soon! Tate came at 37 weeks 5 days. We're getting there!
Things I'm worried about: Picking a horrible name.
Things I'm loving: When Tate points to my belly and screams "Baby!!" Also, Tate started calling the baby "DadaDum" when we ask him what we should name the baby. I know he doesn't know what dumb means but it's still pretty funny.
