This Took Me a Long Time to Write

We all know I'm not a lovey-dovey, gooey-wooey kind of person but today I'm going to go a bit goo fest (for me) on you.

Today is our 4 month-iversary.  We don't really celebrate them but I always make a point to say (Who am I kidding?  It's usually a text.  I'm never up early enough to say it to him.  Super romantic, yes?) it to Husband early in the morning.  Today was no exception.

Husband: Hello love.  8 hours away from a long weekend.
Me: Woot!  I love longs weekends!  And happy 4 month-iversary! :)
Husaband: Happy 4 month-iversary to you too!

(See, it was all so romantic.)

Even after all that romanticism,  the day went on like any other Friday...spelling test, vocabulary test, assembly, reading, art, music, recess, see ya next week.

I finished up the day by planning and ordering supplies for next year and was home a little before 5pm.  Husband was already home.

He had left work early and bought me flowers.  I think the earlier was a necessity for the later but he claims to have just thought to buy me flowers as he was driving home.  Suuuurrrrre.
They are way prettier in real life, promise.
If you're wondering where all the gooey stuff comes in, this is just the background...stay with me.

Let me preface this section with these two facts: I love my husband and I know he loves me.

It all began last night as Husband and I were laying in bed trying to fall asleep.  Earlier in the day we had visited a friend from our previous ward that was in a terrible car accident and may not make it.  Husband commented that death doesn't upset him like it does a lot of people.  Mostly because he knows this world is not the end and that we will see all of these people again.  I told him that's totally opposite from me.  Death and pain have always affected me greatly, even when it's people that I don't know well.  I know the same things as Husband, I know that I will see these people again but knowing that I will have to live for however long it is until I get to see them again is upsetting.  I love people and the thought of not getting to experience life with them anymore makes me really sad.  We talked a bit more about how we differ in this respect then lay silently.  Pondering.

As I lay there, an overwhelming feeling of love for him came over me.  I love every single little thing about him.  I realize that sounds weird.  I married him.  Of course I love everything about him.  But this was different.  I obviously don't have the words to describe it adequately or I would but I knew, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that I had made the right decision and I was going to be happy with Husband forever.

Today, when I got home from work, we were just talking about how our days were and I had the exact  feeling.  The best part?  I know that he loves me as much as I love him.

Moral of the story: If you're dating someone awesome and contemplating getting married...DO IT!  Buy the ring, pop the quesiton, get married.  It's freaking amazing.

Life is good.

Court is Pretty Funny...If anyone Asks, She Got It From Me

My cute little kiddo of a sister has a blog.  It's private.  So instead of sending you to her blog to read things that have made me literally LOL, I'm going to copy things and paste them here.  Pretty sure that's not infringing on her privacy.

"P.S. Lately it feels like I'm living with Ke$ha.  I'm finding glitter everywhere!
Today there was a speck of glitter in the butter.  Get out of my house Ke$h!!"
"This morning we picked up some ingredients for this delicious curry at the Asian market.  We walked in, Ally looked around & exclaimed, "MY PEOPLE!!!!"  Last time I checked Ally was very not Asian."

"Ally has been the word police lately.
Which is ironic, since her new favorite word is the
S-H-I-T
word.
Anyways, Ally broke Tinkerbell's wings off an ornament.
I was going to say
Oh crap, but stopped myself and said oh crank.
(Crap is a bad word....)
(Oh crank.  Who am I?)
Then she said, "Oh crank.  Holy shit."
This kid.
I am constantly reminding her that word is naughty.
But inside I am laughing real hard.
Kids that swear are funny!
There I said it!

So I had to ask her,
Me: Is shiz a bad word?
Ally: Yes, shit is a bad word.
Me: No, is shiz a bad word?
Ally: No, shiz is a yes word."

Crafty McCrafterson

I've decided that instead of saying I'm going to read 90 books in a summer (and failing miserably), I'm going to be crafty.

Here's a list of some things I want to do or make:

I'm sure I'll add more soon but these should easily get me through the no-one-else-is-off-work-and-I'm-bored-out-of-my-mind weekdays this summer.  We'll see how many actually get done.

    He or She?

I was just checking my email and saw on the homepage a story about a family who is keeping their baby's gender a secret, even after he/she was born.  They say they're trying to keep the baby away from typical gender roles/stereotypes (at least that's how I took it.).  I'm not quite sure how I feel about that.  Thoughts?

    Fresh Breath...No Matter What

I know...I'm a terrible blogger.  Now that that's out of the way, you can hear my brilliant idea.

As I was brushing my teeth this morning, I thought, "I love the feeling of fresh, clean breath.  I wish it lasted all freaking day!"

Then I thought about how cool it would be if a toothpaste, mouthwash, anything were invented that would guarantee fresh breath for 10-12 hours...no matter what.  Eat, drink, lick skunks....fresh breath.  It would be awesome.  Brush your teeth twice and day and no matter what you have fresh breath.

It was a glorious mind invention...but then I thought about orange juice.  I thought about how good orange juice is...unless you've just brushed your teeth.  This single invention may kill off all delicious foods that are disgusting right after you brush your teeth.  Oh, the dilemma!  Ugh.  What to do?  What to do?

And those are the things I think about as my students take their end of year tests...6 weeks before the school year ends.

    My (Really Late) Birthday Present

Remember how I had a birthday back in March?  Well, I did.

Around my birthday, Husband and I were at Ikea.  We saw this lovely shelf.  Husband said he could make one.  I was doubtful.  He insisted.

Two months later...it's finally (almost) done.  This is what the friends and husband did while I was gone last night.  Apparently, the shelf is really sturdy.

    Friends not included.

    Cinco de Mayo 2011

Remember last year?  Jenny and I randomly deciding to put on sombreros and fake mustaches?  Yep, this year was better.  I wore my shirt that looked "most fiesta-like" according to Husband.

We had a little get-together at Jenny's.  It was seriously fun but I was seriously bad at taking pictures.  Here are the lovelies I did manage to take.

I miss living with this lovely lady.
Jenny's little bro, Jonny.  He's one cool 19 year old.
Doesn't that mustache look awesome on Andrea?
Ole! This is as Mexican as we got.

San Francisco...All the Other Pictures I Took

As we all know from my recent attempts at blogging, I suck at it.  Period.  I remember days of being super excited to blog and having witty things to say even when I didn't do anything awesome at. all.  Those days have passed.  I blame being almost 30 and being married (dang Husband.  Love him tons though so I'll live with the creativity shortage.).

Here's everything else I did in San Francisco...picture style.  All the fun of reading without all the work.  You're welcome!
It's ALWAYS foggy in San Francisco.

These guys live (and stink and bark and fight) at Pier 39.

He is my favorite lefty (sorry mom) and I wrote that with my left hand, btw.

    Coit Tower
    View from Coit Tower
Be jealous...we got the updated version of the ride but not the sign so I had to make some improvements.  4D has potential...just probably not at this rinky-dink theater.
How I spent most of the trip...either a ghetto ninja or the unibomber...you choose
Husband said he wouldn't be seen with me in public if I wore this sweatshirt...rude!
Tastes like chocolate, crunches like ants.
Does that even sound remotely appetizing?
We rode these around the city for an hour...ours was super broken.  Pretty sure I almost killed us twice but it was the car's fault.

    San Francisco...Alcaraz and Angel Island

We took a hybrid boat (cool right?  I should have gotten a picture but I was lazy...and freezing) out to Angel Island.  It is a very pretty island...with calla lilies growing all over it.  Jealous!

We took a tour on a bus around the island.  It was pretty interesting.

We then took another boat over to Alcatraz.  Alcatraz is cool.

    San Francisco...Muir Woods

Muir Woods is gorgeous!  I highly suggest going there and walking around.

This Would Also Look Nice on My Wall

    I'm totally stealing this idea.

The Time Husband Almost Spent the Rest of his Life in the Doghouse

    Today started out awesome.

The sun was shining.  Spring had sprung.  I was stoked.

It was my last Wednesday off-track and one of the last days that I had to actually run some errands.  I went all over and everywhere I went I ended up with the perfect parking spot.

The radio was only playing songs I loved.

Everything made me smile.  Children were adorable, puppies were cuddly, I was going to play softball.  The day was glorious.  Was is the key word in this sentence.

When Husband and I got to the field I handed him my phone and wedding rings to hold onto while I played.  In retrospect, that was probably a bad idea.

Here's how the day went from amazing and awesome and all adjectives that only mean good things to a day that I cried and wanted to punch things (by things I mostly mean Husband...no, I'm not violent):

About half way through the game, T. somehow bloodied his knee.  I sent Husband to the car to check my purse to see if I had any band aids...I didn't, T. continued to bleed throughout the game.

Game ends, we head to the car.  As we're driving away, Husband begins fishing in his pocket for my rings.  He hands me the band and I say, "That's only one."  "I know," as he continues to fish without any luck.  He pulls over, opens the door and digs around in the seats.  It's not there.  "We should probably go back, huh?"  "Yes, we should," I choked out.

We drive back to the softball field.  Keep in mind that it's about 9:30 and super dark.  We get out of our car and begin looking around with flashlights.  Some people were still around ans tried to help us.  After looking for about 15 minutes one guy who was helping us said "I have a metal detector and I only live about 10 minutes away.  I'll run home and get it then run back here."

Fast forward 90 minutes, 3 people with flashlights, 1 man with a metal detector and head lamp, many tears and many times feeling like it was gone and we were never going to find the ring...I finally found it.  It was a moment of pure joy.  I was elated.

So lesson learned...keep the ring on my finger or in my house.  Got it.

    Pretend Today is April 27th

So...I'm a horrible mother of a toddler.  I forgot this chubby, drooly, sometimes incoherent baby's second birthday.  I am so so sorry, baby blog.

I will try really hard to never forget your birthday again...but I can't promise anything.

Last year (when I acutally remembered my bloggy baby's birthday), I did a year in review.

Since I did a year in review on January 1st, I don't think I need to do one again because...let's face it.  I haven't been the greatest of bloggers lately.

So here's what's going to happen...I'm going to predict-o-blog.  That's right...predict-o-blog (copyright pending). What does that means you ask?  Basically, I'm going to pull a Miss Cleo and write things that (I hope) will actually happen...pretty sure it's basically like the Secret but without reading the Secret.

    May Videos

I posted something from this guy in March.  He makes me laugh a lot.

I showed this next video to my students when we did our solar system unit.  It freaked them out.
