Who's the Freak?
I was Ron Weasley: Zombie edition. My friend Jenny was Hermione Granger and Tom was Harry. It was pretty awesome.
It was a great party. Only thing is, I had to leave early. . .to go to the airport. . .while wearing zombie make up. . .to meet one of Anthony's friends who just got off her mission. Let's just say it was interesting. The good thing about the freak parade that I was is that next time she sees me, I'll look amazing in comparison.
So many stares. Looking back, I should have gone all zombie and chased the children while moaning "Brrraaaaaaaiiinnnnssssss!!!!" But I didn't. I smiled and waved. I guess I'm Ron the Friendly Zombie.
Funny side note: Anthony was pulled over by airport police for going 25 in a 10. Ha! The officer was in a real good mood so he let him off with a warning. I'm pretty sure he was in said good mood because I was in the passenger seat wearing full zombie make up. Just saying.

Adventures at the D.I.
I went in today to get a couple plastic buckets to hold pencils. I left with the buckets, 8 clip boards and a couple giant binders...all for under $8. Woot for people's left overs and being cheap!
Then I went to check out. The cashier began telling me about how her husband was telling her she looks like an old meth addict and how he wants to go out and get himself "a 25-year-old floozy with big boobs." (I almost said that I was 25 then looking at her and imagining what her husband looks like and realizing I'm not a floozy, I though better of myself and kept my mouth shut.)
She then says, "I think I look pretty good for 42." (Which she actually did.) Then proceeds to tell me how her husband was drunk by 11am that day (he's unemployed) and how he tried to kick her 18 year old son out of the house because he thinks the son is a druggie.
The entire time she's telling me about her horrible life I'm thinking, "Is this a hidden camera show?" "Am I being punked?" "Is Ashton Kutcher going to jump out of the rack of those horrible prom dresses from the 80's?" "Where could the cameras be?" Then I thought, "Man, this happens to me a lot. Is there something about me and my face that makes people I've never met before want to spill their life stories?"
Then she just stopped and handed me my bag. Yep, she was holding it and not letting me leave. It was very weird. Like she realized she had said a lot to someone she's never met and realized that's really odd. People are fun.

Internet, Clots Named Sherman and Hot Doctors
In my last post I said my computer was sick...he still is and has actually be humanly put to sleep, I didn't want to see him suffer any more. (New computer I can't really afford but decided I needed coming Monday.) Anyway, I said that because of the computer being sick I'd use my school computer or the home computer to continue posting.
That plan didn't work so well. The family computer got sick too. The technology version of swine flu is obviously running rampant at my house. So I'm left with the prehistoric Mac my school gave me. Then the internet goes down. Ugh. I'm so glad the internet and a computer are things that are not necessities right now. Now I'm rambling. After many annoyed calls to the internet company and 4 days without it, the internet is back up and running. Hallelujah!
Let's recap my life:
I have one more week on track (for those of you who are clueless about what 'on track' means here's the low down: Many schools in Utah are overcrowded. To help with that elementaries have a track system (track A, B, C and D). That translates to at any given time only 3 tracks are on. So instead of 100 6th graders, we only have 75 at a time. That also translates to a 3 week summer for us amazing B and C trackers (Yes, my first year teaching will end July 2 and my second year teaching will begin around July 27) but I do get all of September, December and March off.) When I first got a job in a Year-Round school, I was a bit disappointed because I wouldn't get the nice long summer. Now that my first off-track time is coming, I am so stoked. Holy cow. I need a break and time to figure some things out.
My leg is getting better. I'm not in any pain anymore. But the cankle still insists on coming back everyday at about 10 a.m. and Sherman (my cankle) leaves about an hour after I've gone to bed. He's a creep.
Due to creepy Sherman, I have become very good friends with Dr. LeeAnn, Dr. Phil (the hotty who ultrasounds Sherman on a weekly basis. He's probably not really a doctor--technician is a more accurate word but Dr. Phil...get it? Dr. Phil. Ha. I laugh every time I think it.) and Nurse Lady (she's yet to give me her name). I'm pretty sure I'll be invited to their children's weddings...that's how ridiculously close we are now.
Also, due to Sherman, all my dignity is gone. It left quite quickly after Dr. Phil told me I'd have to wear a piece of paper instead of pants whenever we saw each other. So much for impressing him with how cute my pants are even after I've been teaching all day. Now I guess I'll have to rely on my wit, good personality, and special spirit. Oh, BTW, he's old and has a kid in 6th grade. I won't really be pursing Dr. Phil because of those reasons and it would just be weird to say, "Have a nice day at work. I'll see you at 4:30 so you can smear goo on my leg and tell me yet again that Sherman is still hanging around. Then you can make a remark on how big my cankle is. Ok, love ya!" Do I sound creepy now? No wonder Sherman has hung around so long, he feels at home in my creepy leg.

My Slightly White Trash Weekend
Going shopping without getting ready at all = Slightly white trash scenario #1.
I came home and got ready and dressed and my dad called to see if my sister and I wanted to go to Rocky Mountain Raceway. My dad is super into it and I hate it because it's so loud. Usually I say not to these invitations but decided to go this time. Wow! Am I glad I did!
Being glad you went to RMR = Slightly white trash scenario #2.This night was IHRA Nitro Nationals. I don't know what all that means other than these cars are super loud and blow fire out of some car parts.
Woot! Court and I are ready for them to start racing. We felt a little over dressed. I didn't get the shirts are optional memo.
Holy cow! Fire! Sparks! And it smelled like cinnamon!
Taking a picture with a blow up Jelly Belly and giving a thumbs-up = Slightly white trash scenario #3.
A jet engine on a semi truck? Yes, it's possible and it's amazing.
Saying this is amazing = Slightly white trash scenario #4.
Freaking amazing sunset!
Because I forgot my camera, all these pictures are from my sister Courtney. Also, because of that we didn't get all the pictures I wanted.
The pictures I wanted were of the on slot of celebrities at RMR. We saw Carrot Top, Allison Iraheta (American Idol), Daughtry, Willie Nelson, Corbin Bleu and Santa Claus. Honestly who who have thought RMR attracted such celebrity. It was amazing even if they were just slight look-alikes.

Creeps, Tacos and 2nd Graders...
I began the day with 2nd graders, who by the way are precious. I have never been in a 2nd grade class and I truly enjoyed it today. They still are at that point where everything you do as a teacher is fabulous. They all want to be you and they wish the adults in their lives were more like you. It's great, almost like being famous but without the giant paycheck. I had a wonderful time subbing for them today and the more I spend time in the younger grades, the more I think that I really want to teach them. I'm torn.
I also spoke with the teachers at Grant and they asked if I had a job yet. I told them no and asked their opinions on what my next move should be. They all whole-heartedly agreed that calling is not a good idea. Hmmm...I would have never thought that.
I ate a taco today, or at least I tried. Most of it ended up splattered on my shirt. I spill on myself a lot. I also work with kids so I usually just blame it on them but I guess that secret is out now. Good thing I was wearing a cardigan today. Here is another secret: if you spill on your shirt and still have places to go, just button the cardigan up higher. Problem solved. You're welcome for the sound fashion advice.
Imagine the taco picture as a big blob of taco goo and the words as not being there and the t-shirt as a button-up shirt and me as the person add a head and body and then you get the idea.
I should have gone with a Crunchwrap Supreme because it "takes popular Taco Bell flavors and makes them portable by wrapping it with a tortilla, creating a unique hexagon shape, sealed on all sides to avoid spills."
The other place I had to go was Best Buy. I didn't really have to go there but I was waiting for a friend to get home from work so I could drop something off and I didn't want to drive all the way home so I spent some time browsing electronics I can't afford. As I'm looking at some really cool cameras, a guy says, "You're hair smells nice." WHAT?!?!!? First, is that a pick up line? Second, why in the world would you be close enough to my hair to smell it? Third, I didn't wash it today and I know it doesn't smell like unicorns, flowers, rainbows and butterflies. It smells like dirty hair, eww. Fourth, did you miss the day in kindergarten when they talked about staying in your own space? Fifth, you're old. Sixth, eww, just EWWW.
I imagine it probably looked something like this, except I'm a lot cuter than Hilary and he did it without me knowing. I'm pretty sure Hilary was in on this one.
I gave him my patented "You're a creep and you should probably get away from me now before I self-defense your butt to last week" look, flipped my nice smelling hair, and walked away... as quick as my broken toe could get me out of there.
Had it gone more like this, I may have given him my phone number...ok, it's the exact same thing but it's Zac Efron and he's dreamy. Sigh...
