Year of Tate: Day 1

I'm horrible at blogging.  It's just not a top priority and also I'm pretty sure my husband is the only one who still reads this thing...whatever.

With the new year I'm going to try a new blogging endeavor....I'm calling it A Year of Tate.  My thinking behind this is that it will make me take at least one picture a day and it will be fun to look back on how he changes.

So, here we go.

A Year of Tate: January 1, 2014

Tate insists that he feed himself yogurt now.  He gets about half of the yogurt in his mouth.

Halloween 2013

We went all out for Halloween this year.  By "all out" I mean Husband and I dressed up...and I didn't even have a classroom Halloween party to dress up for.

Baby H. and I went to Husbands work for their party.  Baby H. doesn't get Halloween yet.  He was just happy to be walking around and seeing other people.

After the party, we headed to my mom's to show off our costumes and eat some soup.  By the time we finally thought about getting a picture, Baby H. was not in the mood.

I have about 45 like this one but this is the only one that was mostly in focus.

Picking up Baby H. resulted in only slightly better photos.

Anyway, Happy Halloween from Mary Poppins, one of the penguins from Jolly Holiday and Bert.

Fall Family Photos

My sister-in-law, Rachel, and her husband, Michael, took our family photos a few weeks ago.  I may be weird but I really like getting family photos.  I like picking outfits, trying to make myself as pretty as possible without looking like I tried too hard.  But mostly I like having the photos and capturing that one moment in time.

Here are a few of my favorites.

Halloween Crafts

I freaking love Halloween!  Favorite time of the year, hands down.  I made some new Halloween decorations with my Silhouette and I love how they turned out.

First, a Happy Halloween banner.  I used this shape to create the banner. I deleted the spider webs and spiders then used the cracked font to make the words.

And a close up.  I love glitter paper!

Next, the spiders and web banner.  Same shape used exactly how it was made.

I also layered some of the spiders and webs. 


And the final Halloween decor...Bats.  So freaking cute...or scary?

I feel like I need a lot more for the space but they're looking awesome.  I used this shape from the Silhouette store and I only used the bottom bat in the pair.

Fall Leaves

Baby H. and I went to my mom's and played in the leaves today.  Baby H. doesn't really know what you're supposed to do with leaves.  He spent most of his time just walking around the yard and completely ignoring me and the fun I was having with the leaves.  Geesh! Maybe next fall we'll have a little more fun.

This is the only picture that looks like he knows he's supposed to play and have fun in leaves.  He didn't really.  This picture is a fluke.

Putting him in the leaves caused a bit of a melt down.

Pumpkin Patchin'

We went to a pumpkin patch today.  Baby H. was more excited about the helicopters that kept flying over the field.

When did my baby grow up?

Once we got in the car though, he was very excited to hold the pumpkin in his lap.

And, pretty unrelated, these pajamas were mine almost 30 years ago.

Baby H.--ONE Year!

This time last year Baby H. came into our lives.

If you missed the birth story, here it is.

I can't believe how much he's changed in the past year.  I also can't believe that's it has already been ONE year!

This month was a lot of fun.

We went to the zoo.  Baby H. didn't really know what was going on unless the animals were really close to us.

He loved the splash pad.  So much fun!

The polar bear was our favorite.  She was really easy to see and was very active when we were there.  She kept swimming back and forth from the rock to the window.  She was fun to watch.

The bird show as also really fun.

Look at Baby's face...Ha!

Baby had a couple really rough walking days.  He was constantly falling and hitting his head. This called for a day of snuggling and two binkis.

He loves having more than one binki.  He constantly trades them in and out of his mouth.

He's starting to climb and get into things much more than he used to.  He's pretty close to being able to climb onto our TV stand.

He has loved eating the past few days and really likes sharing.

He refuses to let me cut up any food.  Any time I try he just cries and won't eat it.  But give him the whole thing and he's a happy camper. That's a whole peach that he devoured. 

When he's really tired he wipes his oatmeal all over his face.

Learned to open the puffs.  When he saw me he ran away.

He also decided he only needs one nap a day.  This is what he looks like by about 6pm.

That scratch isn't nearly as bad as it looks.  He fell head first into the sidewalk.  Ouch.

This one nap thing has been pretty amazing though.  Now, he's usually in bed by 7pm and sleeps through the night without much problem.  And he's sleeping about 11.5 to 13 hours per night.  Awesome.

Kickball

Okay, this is probably going to shock most of you but...I'm posting...and it's not about my baby.

I've been playing in the Draper Rec Kickball League since early June.  We had an okay record through the season but we weren't really stellar.  We started tournament play yesterday.  We started at 6pm and if we won we kept playing until the 8pm championship game...guess what.  We won and won and won.  Yep, kickball champions. 

And because no post is complete without a picture or mention of Baby H., here's a picture of my trouper baby (he stayed for all 3 games without whining too much) and my husband, who made it just in time for the championship game.
