It was well past haircut time.  Tate hates haircuts. I bribed him with a sucker but he still had a difficult time sitting still.  Finally, about half way through, he stopped crying and sort of let me cut it.  I decided to just cut it all one (very short) length...sorry mom.  Hopefully it will grow out quickly and I can trim down the sides and back so it's not all one length anymore.

 

He looks so much older with the short hair.

We went to the zoo today and finally got into the bird show.  We hadn't been able to get in since last year (admitedly, we haven't tried very hard).

Tate was so stoked.  This is his reaction to the pre-show (a couple birds hanging out on tree limbs)

We will probably try to go to the bird show every time we go to the zoo from now on.

His favorite parts were when the birds would fly right over our heads.

Tate is finally brave enough to try out slides without me doing them with him first.

His first try was a little wobbly but he soon figured it all out and was a sliding champion.

I tired really hard to get Tate dressed today.  I was only able to convince him to change into different shorts (and that was only because his diaper had leaked all over them).

 

He's slightly obsessed with his Thomas pajamas. I may implement a "no Thomas pajamas" ruling pretty soon.

He also refused to get any of his own shoes so we could leave the house. I eventually won this fight and he wore his own shoes when we left to run errands.

So many things today, can't just pick one.

First, Tate loves q-tips. He sticks them in his nose to get boogers (I did this once when nothing else would get those goopy things out of his nose and now I guess that's what he thinks they're for). He also likes to stick them in his ears and see how long they will stay there.

*Note: Tate is on a "no pictures...EVER!" kick lately. So all my pictures are blurry, don't show his face, and/or he has a grumpy face.

We also got this stroller base that our car seat hooks into from Husband's sister and Tate thinks it's for him. I'm pretty sure he's going to rip a hole in the basket.

And last for today. Tate was eating toast for lunch (small victories for this kiddo who refused to eat just about everything for 3 months straight) when he walked over to me neighing.  I was super confused for a second then realized he thought his toast looked like a horse.

For a 22 month old, I think it's pretty good.

Usually, when we talk about the new baby, Tate makes pinching fingers and tries to pinch the baby through my belly. We have a lot to work on.  But today he was hugging and patting my belly softly.  Baby steps. We'll get there.

This kid is loving this headband today.  He's also hating getting pictures taken lately.  As soon as he sees the camera pointed in his direction he screams and turns his head or runs away if that's an option.  Maybe I take too many pictures.
